The eighth annual meeting, held in Beijing, was incredibly successful due to both member's active participation and the China Development Bank (CDB)'s generous support as a hosting member.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2019 ANNUAL MEETING IN BEIJING

Key Topic Highlights

Online Services and Digitalization: This group, led by Mario Toussaint (BDC), presented a finalized version of their Digital Lending Maturity Model.  They focused on articulating the experience and results of each member's model validation process, and made recommendations for best practices in using the model.

Key Topic Group Digitalization 

Scaling Up Mid-Sized Firms: This group, led by Lisa Hyde (BDC) and Tim Douglas (SIDF), presented an overview of what challenges entrepreneurs face in scaling up and provided some explanation as to why this is, including an overview of the national ecosystem maturity for contributing members. They concluded by presenting some key initiatives from each contributing member that supports scale-ups and recommendations for the future work of The Montreal Group.

SEMINAR ON ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

Hosted by CDB and TMG, more than 75 people participated in this unique international gathering. 

Site Visits: Participants were privileged to visit  three companies showcasing advanced manufacturing in creative ways:

1.        Goldwind: the world's second largest wind turbine manufacturer

2.        SMIC: a wafer and compound semiconductor company

3.        BOE Technology Group: a supplier of display products and solutions, such as screens and smart appliances
