Report de l'Assemblée annuelle due au COVID-19

(À noter que cette communication a été envoyée en anglais seulement.)

5 MARS 2020

*IMPORTANT EXTRAORNIDARY INFORMATION*

Dear Members of The Montreal Group,

Aligned with SIDF and members of our executive committee, due to the worldwide COVID-19 situation, we have decided to postpone our annual meeting planned June 8-9-10, in Riyadh. The meeting will be postponed to a later date in the fall, taking for granted the situation will have stabilized by then.

Although Public Health in Saudi Arabia has recorded only one case of the virus in the country to this date, the situation is beyond anyone's control at this stage and all countries are now implementing rigid entry barriers for visitors as well as restrictions for traveling. As a result, a lot of international events are being canceled.

As most of our respective Banks are as well implementing their own protocol to limit the spread of the virus, a lot of us would not be able to travel for the meeting in June. This is an evolving situation and we want to make sure all precautions are in place to lead by example.

The Secretariat and SIDF are therefore suggesting the following plan:

The Secretariat and SIDF will monitor the evolution of the Coronavirus and will look into suggesting new dates in the fall;

To note SIDF is also in close communication with the organizers of the G20 to monitor their own guidelines. To this date, no G20 meetings have been canceled. Most of the meetings are planned for September-October.

Mabel and I will meet in the coming weeks to review the impact of postponing the annual meeting. An important aspect is the momentum for the Key Topic Groups. We will revert back to everyone with suggested options on how to move forward until we meet in the fall.

We will continue to update the group as things evolve. We thank you for your continued collaboration and understanding.

Sandra D. Peloquin
