Ms. Sandra D. Péloquin

Secretary General - The Montreal Group

Sandra joined the Business Development bank of Canada (BDC) in 2006 and has held various business development positions in the Canadian SME ecosystem before taking on her current role. She was raised in a family of entrepreneurs. In her current role, she is responsible for strengthening BDC’s international relations to benefit Canadian SMEs and to enhance thought leadership for BDC.

Apart from her role at the BDC, Sandra has the unique opportunity to act as Secretary General for The Montreal Group, an international not-for-profit association of select development banks dedicated to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications (Concordia+Equatorial Guinea+University of Ottawa combined program), a Graduate diploma in International Business (McGill University) and an MBA (University of Ottawa). She is fluent in French, English and Spanish. 


Ms. Mabel González Pacheco 

Head of Operations & Sustainability - The Montreal Group

Mabel is the Operations Manager for The Montreal Group and also acts as Senior Advisor, International Relations for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). Before taking on her current role, Mabel was North America Sustainability Bonds Manager and Head of the Canadian Subsidiary for Vigeo Eiris (VE) affiliate of Moody’s Investor Services. Prior to moving to Canada in 2014, she was Director of corporate social responsibility at Asobancaria, the Colombian national association of banks where she led the first national program to promote financial literacy in all schools and the Green Protocol, a voluntary framework with guidelines to promote green finance, signed in 2012 by the Colombian Government and the most relevant banks and development banks present in the country. 

Mabel is a Canadian citizen born in Colombia.  She is a lawyer and a social entrepreneur and has master’s degrees in International Law and in International and Development Economics as well as studies in sustainable development, strategic leadership and performing arts. She has more than 20 years of experience and has studied and worked in Colombia, Bolivia, Spain, Egypt, Germany and Canada. She speaks Spanish, English, French, and German.


Ms. Maria Teresa Hernández Villarreal

Advisor - The Montreal Group

Maria Teresa is Advisor at The Montreal Group, institution where she was an intern from June-December 2020. Prior to this experience, she was involved in research projects on the economic integration of return migrants, on the intersection of gender-migration and the interplay of ethnicity-social integration.

Maritere has a First Class Honors Degree in Sociology from McGill University in Montreal and is a Certified Professional Impact Analyst (CPIA Level I) from Queen's University.

Having lived in Mexico City, Barcelona, Florence and now Montreal, she speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian.
